Check Your Netlink Email Anywhere

We offer a webmail system that easily allows you to retrieve email through a web interface.

Configuring Eudora for Email

Only follow these steps if you are having trouble checking and sending your email.

  1. Open Eudora
  2. Click on the Tools Menu and Select Options
  3. Look under the Categories column on the left-side of the Tools Window
  4. Click on the Getting Started icon under Categories
  5. Type <yourusernamegt;@mail.netlinkip.com in the POP Account field yourusername is the name that you use to login to Netlink
  6. Click on the Personal Information icon
  7. Type <yourusername>@netlinkip.com in the Reply-to Address field yourusername is the name that you use to login to Netlink
  8. Click on the Hosts icon under Categories
  9. Type mail.netlinkip.com in the SMTP field
  10. Click on the OK button
  11. You are now ready to go with your new settings! Connect to Netlink and begin sending and receiving email!

Configuring Forte Free Agent for Newsgroups

  1. Open Forte Free Agent (Start > Programs > Forte > Agent)
  2. Click on Options > General Preferences
  3. Click on User tab
  4. Type in your Name, your E-mail Address, your Organization (if warranted), and Reply-to E-mail address if you wish people to reply to a different e-mail address than your @netlinkip.com e-mail address.
  5. Click on System tab
  6. Type in news.netlinkip.com for News Server
  7. Type in mail.netlinkip.com for Email Server
  8. Click OK
  9. Click on Online > Online
  10. Free Agent will ask in a pop-up window if you want to download the group list, choose OK.

Configuring Mac OS 8.5 through 9.0 for Dial-Up Access with Remote Access

  1. Click on the Apple Menu > Control Panels > Remote Access
  2. Place a dot next to Registered User
  3. Type in your username all lowercase in the Name box
  4. Type in your password all lowercase in the Password box
  5. Check Save password
  6. Type in the access number in the Number box
  7. Click Options
  8. Click the Protocol tab
  9. Choose PPP for Protocol (if the pulldown option is present)
  10. Only check Allow error correction and compression in modem and Use TCP Header compression
  11. Click OK
  12. Click the Remote Access menu and choose Modem
  13. Select the correct port for the modem next to Connect via
  14. Select the correct type of modem next to Modem
  15. Close this window and click Save
  16. Click the Remote Access menu and choose TCP/IP
  17. Choose PPP next to Connect via
  18. Choose Using PPP Server next to Configure
  19. Click in Name Server address box and type in the DNS server numbers
  20. Close this window and click Save
  21. Now click Connect to dial-up and connect to Netlink

Configuring Outlook Express for Email

  1. Double click on Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools > Accounts
  3. Click Add > Mail
  4. This first window will ask for your Display Name, this the name people will see when you send them an email. You may type anything you like here.
  5. Click Next
  6. Type in your email address, all lowercase (e.g., username@netlinkip.com).
  7. Click Next
  8. Select POP3 for the type of incoming mail server.
  9. Type in "mail.netlinkip.com" for the incoming mail server name.
  10. Type in "mail.netlinkip.com" for the outbound mail server name.
  11. Click Next
  12. Verify your username (e.g., jasonellis) is all lowercase.
  13. Type in your password all lowercase.
  14. Click Next
  15. Click Finish
  16. Click Close
  17. To check your email click on "Send and Receive"

Configuring Outlook Express for Newsgroups

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools > Accounts
  3. Click on Add > News
  4. Type in your Name, click Next
  5. Type in your E-mail Address, click Next
  6. Type in news.netlinkip.com for News server, click Next
  7. Click Finish
  8. Click Close
  9. Outlook Express will ask you to download the group list, choose Yes
  10. For further instructions click on Help > Contents and Index > Viewing and Posting to Newsgroups

Configuring Win95/98 to Connect to Netlink

These directions are for configuring your computer to use Dial-Up Networking to dial into Netlink and allow you to connect to the Internet.

  1. Double click on My Computer > Dial Up Networking > Make New Connection
  2. Type in "Netlink" for the Name of Connection.
  3. Click Next
  4. Type in Dial-Up Access Number
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Finish
  7. Right click on Netlink
  8. Click on Properties
  9. Uncheck "Use Country Code and Area Code" or "Use Dialing Properties" (hint: its the only check box on this window)
  10. Click Server Types
  11. Uncheck "Log On To Network"
  12. Click on OK
  13. Right click on Netlink
  14. Click on Create Shortcut
  15. Click "Yes" to place the shortcut on your Desktop
  16. Close these windows
  17. Double Click on "Shortcut to Netlink"
  18. Type in your Dial-Up Username (all lowercase)
  19. Type in your Dial-Up Password (all lowercase)
  20. Click "Connect"

Your computer will now dial into Netlink and connect you to the Internet.
Your next step will be to open an Internet application such as Internet Explorer to browse the World Wide Web or Outlook Express to send and receive email.

Configuring WinME to Connect to Netlink

These directions are for configuring your computer to use Dial-Up Networking to dial into Netlink and allow you to connect to the Internet.

  1. Double click on My Computer > Control Panel > Dial Up Networking > Make New Connection
  2. Type in "Netlink" for the Name of Connection.
  3. Click Next
  4. Type in Dial-Up Access Number
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Finish
  7. Right click on Netlink
  8. Click on Properties
  9. Uncheck "Use Country Code and Area Code" or "Use Dialing Properties" (hint: its the only check box on this window)
  10. Click Networking
  11. Uncheck "Log On To Network"
  12. Click on OK
  13. Right click on Netlink
  14. Click on Create Shortcut
  15. Click "Yes" to place the shortcut on your Desktop
  16. Close these windows
  17. Double Click on "Shortcut to Netlink"
  18. Type in your Dial-Up Username (all lowercase)
  19. Type in your Dial-Up Password (all lowercase)
  20. Click "Connect"

Your computer will now dial into Netlink and connect you to the Internet.
Your next step will be to open an Internet application such as Internet Explorer to browse the World Wide Web or Outlook Express to send and receive email.

    Dial-Up Access Numbers:

    • Always check with your local telephone company to make sure that your access number is local to you. Netlink IP Communications is not responsible for any long distance charges you may incur.
    Netlink and Email Username/Passwords:
    • use those provided at sign-up, username and password are the same for both internet connection and email
    Server Configuration:
    • Primary DNS: 216.111.143.5
    • Secondary DNS: 216.111.143.6
    • POP3 Mail Server: mail.netlinkip.com
    • SMTP Mail Server: mail.netlinkip.com
    • Email and Reply-to Addresses: <username>@netlinkip.com
    • News Server: news.netlinkip.com

How to Enable Internet Explorer's Content Advisor

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab
  3. Under the section for Content Advisor Click on Enable
  4. Here you will see different categories of the RSACi rating system. Select the category you wish to restrict access to (e.g., Language, Nudity, Sex, or Violence) and then move the slider below that to the level you wish to allow.
  5. Now click on the General tab and click on Change Password.
  6. Leave the Old Password empty, or specify any previous password you may have entered here.
  7. Type in a Password in the New Password and Confirm New Password box.
  8. Click OK > OK > OK
  9. Close Internet Explorer and when you reopen it you will be ready to go with Content Advisor.
  10. To bypass Content Advisor when you are online you will be prompted for a password, type it in and you will be able to browse any site that doesn't meet your Advisory Settings.

Publishing Your Own Webpage

After you have built your web page, you may publish it using your own web space account on Netlink IP Communications' personal web server. Follow these steps to publish your web page online:

  1. Using your FTP client, connect to mail.netlinkip.com with your username and password.
  2. Open the "public_html" directory.
  3. Upload your web page files, including an index.html.
  4. Now you may access your web page at:
    http://www.netlinkip.com/~<your username>
